Compound Overview
Puerto Vallarta is a compound of 70 apartments nestled on the front line of the Mediterranean in the small town of Portman. Since this picture was taken another 100 units have been built and the expectation is a further 600 units will be built. None of the units may be more than 2 stories high. The area to the left of the picture is where the new bay and marina are being constructed. Please review the Community's General Guidelines before arriving.
Relative Location

The Puerto Vallarta compound is only a five minute drive to La Manga Club and a fifteen minute drive to Cartagena. The beach is a ten minute walk and the markets, hairdresser and banks are a five minute walk from the apartments. See Portman Local Amenities Map for locations of restaurants and markets.
Entering the Compound
The picture shows the approach to the compound on the road from La Manga
Club (lower left hand corner of the relative location image).
There are two ways of entering the compound, through one of the four the gated garages or through one of the four walk-in access gates, Gate access requires a conventional key There are four garage entrances. #4 provides access to apartment #49 and car parking space #5.
Entering the Garage

The garage gate and door are opened by inserting the plastic garage key into the garage key point. The gate and door will automatically close several minutes after the car passes the sensors.
Garage Area

This is a picture of the inside of Garage 4 identifying all the points of interest. Note that the Garage Key Point is where the Garage Key is used to open the garage door and gate.
Security Gates and Gate 1 Call Panel
All apartment clusters have their own security gates and video recognition panel so the occupants may see who is at the gate before remotely activating the gate release. You may converse with the visitor through the handset. Please keep the gates closed at all times. There is an additional call panel at Gate #1 (facing C/Tejada for apartments 39-70). This may be confusing if someone signals the apartment by pressing 201 (for apartment 49) and the red bell button from the call panel to the left of Gate #1 as there will be no one on the video screen. The video screen only views the apartment security gate however you may converse with the visitor through the handset. The apartment security gate release may be remotely opened by pressing the blue button with the key image immediately after the call tone is heard as after some delay the function automatically resets. If someone is calling from Gate 1 (or any other street to gardens access gate) you must personally let them in.

One nice thing about Portman is the afternoon breeze. It can also be
hazardous if you leave the front door open and forget your keys. In
addition, when you have there is a thru breeze the bedroom doors tend to
slam shut, sometimes locking themselves. ALWAYS ensure that the doorstops (on
the floor) are latched when the door is opened.
7.
Do use the proper dispenser when putting soap and fabric softener in the
clothes washer. In the picture on the left soap goes in the left hand
container, fabric softener in the middle and pre-wash on the right.
Putting soap or softener in the wrong container or doubling up in one
container causes the machine to fail.
8. Be careful on the stairs leading to the terrace when they are wet they are very slippery.
